Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tamale South Constituency in the northern region, Mr. Ganew Sandow has sharply responded to the National Communications Officer of the party, Sammy Gyamfi, for attacking leadership of the NDC caucus in Parliament.

Ganew Sandow in a rebuttal statement said Sammy Gyamfi needs to be reminded that when he was in primary one, the likes of Haruna Iddrisu paid their dues to the party as national executives, emphasizing that, “In fact Hon Haruna Iddrisu as national youth organizer worked to bring the party to power in 2009.”

He further questioned whether same testimony can be said about the outspoken NDC National Communications Officer.

Sammy Gyamfi on Thursday (4 March, 2021) accused the minority caucus of betraying the collective good of the party for their selfish interest and therefore intimated that they (MPs) have lost their moral authority to lead and are not fit to sit on the front bench of the NDC side of the house.

He particularly mentioned the Minority Leader, Hon Haruna Iddrisu who is the Member of Parliament for the Tamale South constituency, the Minority Chief Whip who also doubles as the Member of Parliament for Asawase and the Speaker Parliament, Alban Bagbin, stating, “The shame they have brought on the party will forever hang like an albatross around their necks.”

“This is the time for us to insist on the right changes in the leadership of the NDC group in Parliament or forget about them completely. The current leadership have lost their moral authority to lead and are not fit to sit on the front bench of the NDC side of the house. More importantly, it’s about time we understood, that we don’t have any NDC Speaker of Parliament. No we don’t! We have a Speaker who rode on the back of the NDC into Office to pursue his own parochial agenda and nothing more. You trust them, at your own peril” he added.

In this regard, the Tamale South Communications Officer said Sammy Gyamfi has gotten it all wrong; explaining that, “Being in leadership in Parliament doesn’t mean you decide for your side. More so, in instances where voting is by secret ballot, no leader has any magical prowess to control who votes what.”

He said therefore that, it is unacceptable for Sammy Gyamfi to elect to denigrate the reputation of these highly respected individuals.

“We all want the good of the party; else there are many things we can write about. A national party official like sammy should know better that, it has always been inappropriate to discuss party matters in public. What could be his motivation?” he stated.
