Hajia Rahana Abdul Aziz - NPP Northern Regional Women's Organizer

The Northern Regional Women Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Rahana Abdul Aziz, has called for more opportunities for women to ensure their rapid development as the world marks International Women’s Day (IWD) today Tuesday, March 8, 2022.

“As the world celebrates International Women’s Day today, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all women in Ghana, particularly those in the Northern Region”.

She has also campaigned against all forms of violence and stereotypes against women and stands for gender parity and the rapid development of women in Ghana and across the globe.

“As part of my political activism, I have advocated for women’s rights, which has culminated in my offering to serve all women in the Northern Region. I will continue to advocate for the possible best opportunities for the rapid development and advancement of all women without barriers and stereotypes” she said in a statement copied to THE CUSTODIAN observing this year’s International Women’s Day.

The International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8 to uphold women’s cultural, political and socioeconomic achievements, recognize challenges and focus greater attention on women’s rights and gender equality.

The 2022 IWD is observed under the theme: “Gender Equal World Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow” and the United Nations Women Directo, Sima Bahous urges all to make this day a moment to recall that we have the answers, not just for SDGs 5 but through the advancement of gender equality, for all 17 Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2030.
