Gloryhill Women Empowerment Foundation (GWEF), a non-profit organization dedicated
to empowering underprivileged women on Saturday empowered over a Thousand
(1000) women with the tools and knowledge necessary to become financially

This was achieved in the maiden Northern Women Entrepreneurship
Conference at the University for Development Studies.

GWEF in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Politics and
Governance, Center For Gender and Career Mentorship and Wocom UDS Tamale
Campus, organized the Northern Women Entrepreneurship Conference intending to
empower over 1,000 women from diverse backgrounds.

The participants of the
conference were equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary to become
financially independent.

The conference which was on the theme; “Empowering Women to be Financially
Independent” had Mr. Charles Atia, CEO of B-Diet Limited, Ing. Prof. Linda Dari,
Associate Professor of Food and Post Harvest Engineering with UDS, Madam Neo
Thamae Gariba, a retired Development Consultant and Dr. Naazia Ibrahim, a Lecturer
at UDS as speakers.

The Chief Executive Officer of Gloryhill Women Empowerment Foundation, Mrs. Gloria
Abiwu in an interview with Tamale based North Television (NTV) News said although a majority of women carry financial
burdens, they are not economically empowered to be Financially Independent hence
the conference.

She noted when women are empowered, children will be brought up to
become responsible in society.

Madam Gloria disclosed aside the financial empowerment, the mental health of the
women is also being discussed at the Conference. The Foundation she added is also
supporting widows with special packages to commemorate the 2024 Mother’s Day.

The CEO of the Gloryhill Women Empowerment Foundation said the less privileged
women at the Conference will be trained in some vocational skills to start their
businesses. She thus appealed to corporate Ghana to assist the foundation realize it
goals of empowering the Northern Woman to be Financially Independent.

A Speaker at the Conference, Madam Vivian Boateng, CEO of Vivi’s Dance and Theater
Academy who spoke on turning passion into business admonished fellow women to
identify their talent and start from where they are and make a change. She thus
encouraged men to support women to be empowered.

On her part, Dr. Susana Annan, A – Psychiatrist who touched on Mental health focused
on depression, its causes and symptoms. She mentioned sadness, loss of interest, poor
sleep, and suicidal thoughts as some symptoms of depression.
