Upper West Regional House of Chiefs with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (seated 4th right)

The Upper West Regional House of Chiefs, have commended the Government of President Akufo-Addo, and the role of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for the enormous impact of Free SHS in Ghana.

Dr. Bawumia, as part of his campaign tour of the Upper West Region, interacted with the Chiefs in Wa on Monday, to share with them his vision and policies for Ghana, under his Presidency.

Delivering a welcome address on behalf of the Regional House Chiefs, the President of the House Naa Dikomwine Domalee, Dafiama Naa,

acknowledged the impact of Free SHS in the region, which he said, “every parent can testify.”

“We the Chiefs and people of the Upper West Region congratulate you and your government for the flagship programmes that have so far been implemented,” President of the House said on behalf of his colleagues.

“We wish to thank the government for solving many of the challenges associated with the implementation of the Senior HIGH school policy: and making education affordable and accessible to all Ghanaians, irrespective of their social and economic status. Parents with wards in in Senior High Schools, trainee nurses and teachers can testify to this.”

The Regional House of Chiefs also commended the government for other impactful initiatives, which they said, the region has also benefited immensely.

“The fertiliser subsidy and supply of inputs to farmers impacted positively to the lives of the people of the region. Our region is on record to have had the largest number of beneficiaries under the planting for food and jobs,” the House acknowledged.

Bad roads

While commending government, the Chiefs also appealed for the government to have a look at some key roads in the region, which they said are not in good conditions.

Bawumia’s honesty acknowledged

The Upper West Regional House of Chiefs expressed admiration for Dr. Bawumia for being honest and transparent.

The NPP flagbearer as part of his campaign tour of the Upper West Region, interacted with the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs in Wa on Monday, to share with them his vision and policies for Ghana, under his Presidency.

Welcoming him on behalf of the House, Dafiama Naa, who is also President of the House, commended Dr. Bawumia for his high integrity.

“Your principles, honesty, accountability and transparency in governance and devotion to duty are positive qualities that will inure to your future endeavours, “said the President of the House, adding the House’s pride in the Vice President.

‘We are very proud of you,” he said.

‘We wish you well in your task of assisting the President of Ghana in governing mother Ghana. As traditional rulers, we understand you and your problems, but wish to assure you that we pray to the ancestors for their blessings on you.”

Dr. Bawumia thanked the Regional House of Chiefs for their support, prayers and encouragement over the years.

He also spoke extensively about the works he has done as Vice President to support the President, and also shared with them policies he intends to implement as President, should he be elected as President of Ghana.

He explained to them his new policies on agriculture, mining, overhauling the tax system, and youth policies, among many others.
