Former Northern Regional Minister, Hon Salifu Sa-eed has categorically stated that he will not be contesting for the Northern Regional Chairman position when the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) opens nominations for the party’s internal elections.
This, therefore, clears the air on the widespread rumors circulating among members of the NPP in the northern region and on social media for weeks now.
Mr. Salifu Sa-eed who served as a senior campaign aide to the 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, said in a statement on Facebook that the DMB project is much bigger a task for him than his personal political ambitions.
“My attention has been drawn to a publication circulating in social media about a purported contest in the upcoming Northern Regional Chairmanship race, I want to state clearly without ambiguity that I am NOT engaging in any contest in the Region.
“Yes, it’s true that so many well meaning people have called on me to lead the party in the region, but I think the DMB project ahead of us is much bigger a task for me than anything else” he wrote.
He maintained that the ultimate responsibility and goal is to work hard in order to make the former Vice President, Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia to once again become the flagbearer of the NPP for the 2028 general elections and eventually becoming President of Ghana.
“As a proud and loyal servant and a senior aide to DMB, my ultimate goal and responsibility is to work hard and assist His Excellency Alhaji Dr. Mahamud Bawumia to become the flag bearer of NPP and subsequently the Next President of the Republic of Ghana in the December 7, 2028 general elections.”
He further gave an assurance of his commitment to support the team of regional executives that will emerge victorious in the upcoming elections in the northern region to deliver on their mandate.
“I am also using this opportunity to call on our party supporters and sympathizers to forgive one another and forget what happened in the past and forge ahead in unity for the common goal” he appealed.
