The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has annulled the purported constituency executive elections conducted in three constituencies, citing violations of party rules, regulations and, where applicable, subsisting court orders.
In a statement dated July 15, 2026, the party said the decision was taken by its National Steering Committee following a review of the constituency executive elections held across the country over the weekend.
According to the statement, the affected constituencies are Bantama, Afigya Sekyere East and Adansi Asokwa. The party explained that the elections in these constituencies were conducted in flagrant disregard of party directives, the rules governing the 2026 Constituency Executive Elections and existing court orders where applicable.
The National Steering Committee has also summoned the Ashanti Regional Steering Committee to appear before it on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, to account for the circumstances surrounding the conduct of the elections in the affected constituencies.
Additionally, the committee has referred election-related issues in Asante Akyem Central, together with all other unresolved constituency election disputes, to the Electoral Affairs Committee of the National Council for advice and recommendations.
The party said the referral is intended to ensure that all outstanding electoral disputes are handled through the appropriate internal mechanisms before any further decisions are taken.
The NPP reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring strict compliance with its constitution and regulations. It stressed that the measures are aimed at preserving the integrity, credibility and transparency of the party’s internal democratic processes.
The statement was jointly signed by the party’s Acting National Chairman, Danquah Smith Buttey, and General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong.
