Chairmen of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the eighteen (18) constituencies in the northern region have commended the Northern Development Authority (NDA) for the implementation of the government’s flagship Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Program (IPEP) in the northern ecological zone.
The caucus on Thursday, 11 June, 2020, held a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer and other management members of the authority to present a letter of appreciation to government for the ongoing massive infrastructure projects springing up across the region.
The IPEP program is in fulfillment of President Nana Akufo-Addo pledged prior to the 2016 general elections to allocate an annual amount of $1Million dollars per Constituency to reduce the infrastructure deficit in the country. However, the NDA as the implementing agency handed the contracts over to contractors in all the constituencies in the Northern, Upper East, Upper West, North East and Savannah regions.
Chairman of the caucus, Mohammed Ibrahim further congratulated the CEO on his appointment and the smooth implementation of the program (IPEP). According to the group, this execution of projects is a mark of good leader by the Akufo-Addo led administration.
He noted that, “the organization you now lead has been seen in a bad light for a long time before your appointment, it is therefore commendable under the circumstance that you have been able to speed up the process of awarding contracts for the IPEP projects.”
He urged the authority to strengthen unity among all key stakeholders in the region, explaining the sustainability of these projects and the development agenda depends on the collaboration of all stakeholders.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer, Dr Alhassan Sulemana Anamzooya on his part thanked the caucus for their encouragement and expressed his excitement about their involvement in ensuring the Authority succeeds in the execution of the IPEP projects.
He also pledged his commitment to overseeing the successful completion of these projects, adding that the success of this phase of the IPEP will determine whether or not Government continues to allocate funds to provide infrastructural development across the country.
The CEO urged the group to treat the projects as their own and help to monitor and safeguard them to ensure they benefit the people, as these were chosen by the people themselves.
