The Member of Parliament for Yendi in the northern region, Hon Farouk Aliu Mahama, has saluted all former constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party especially the immediate past Chairman, Abubakari Sadique and his colleagues.

According to the MP, the party officers contributed significantly for power to win convincingly in the 2020 parliamentary and presidential elections.

Therefore, he expressed his personal gratitude to the latter during the 2022 Annual Delegates Conference held on Sunday, May 1, 2022.

He further implored the newly elected executives and supporters of the NPP to acknowledge efforts of everybody in the party.

“There are no winners or losers in this election. Many Executives have come and gone and we must give them the respect, even our current Chairman, we must give him that recognition because he helped me to win with the 16,000 resounding victory we recorded in 2020” he said.

The Yendi legislator indicated politics is about disagreeing to agree on issues and that the outcome of the Sunday polls will solidify the unity of the New Patriotic Party.

The eloquent MP observed the NPP in Yendi has suffered bad press in the past three months and it was time self-introspection and forgiveness.

“It could be me today and it would be another person tomorrow, therefore, we should take politics as life and death – everybody here both those who voted me and vice versa contributed to my victory and even the outgoing Chairman supported me to win, so let’s embrace one another and forgive each other” Alhaji Farouk appealed.

He noted the task ahead for the party requires the involvement of everybody in the constituency and reiterated the importance of proper and genuine reconciliation.

“We will go out there and reconcile with the aggrieved members, Chairman and all those who are disgruntled because we have barely two years to the general elections” he added.

 Operations win 30,000

The Member of Parliament has targeted to win the next parliamentary elections with more than 30,000 votes but was quick to state that this is possible only if the party remains united and work towards attaining such historic feet.

He charged the NPP members to campaign based on the monumental achievements of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government, the MP’s development agenda in the constituency.

Meanwhile, the Yendi lawmaker whilst addressing the 2022 Annual Delegates Conference called on the electorates support the bid of Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to succeed President Nana Akufo-Addo as the next President.

He argued the nation and more particularly the north, stands a greater chance of consolidating the tremendous ongoing development drive under a Bawumia government.
