The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is scheduled to hold two crucial meetings at the Alisa Hotel in Accra today to deliberate on the future of the party.
The first meeting, according to information gathered, will be held by the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the second will be by the National Council (NC), which is the second highest decision-making body of the main opposition party.
A notice for the meetings, which THE CUSTODIAN sighted, was served on the members of the two bodies a week ago by the NPP General Secretary, Mr. Justin Kodua Frimpong.
Issues to be discussed, the paper learnt, include the presentation of the report of the 2024 Election Review Committee, National Annual Delegates Conference, Amendment of the party’s Constitution; Constituency, Regional and National Executive Elections, and Programmes for 2026 and beyond.
The paper has learnt that the Prof. Mike Oquaye Committee report may be submitted to the party at the marathon meetings.

Other issues on the table, THE CUSTODIAN further gleaned, will be on the conduct of NPP faithful towards the party’s presidential primaries next year for the 2028 general election.
This has become necessary following a disturbing trend of public endorsements and mudslinging for and against potential candidates ahead of the primaries, which political analysts believe, do not auger well for the unity of the party.
Oquaye Committee
In January this year, the NPP set up an 11-member committee chaired by former Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye to investigate the party’s defeat in the 2024 general election.
The committee’s mandate was to assess the factors that contributed to the NPP’s loss and recommend strategies for rebuilding the party and preparing for future elections.
It has for the past three months, engaged stakeholders, including journalists, party members, grassroots supporters, and political analysts, to ensure a thorough review.
Party members and supporters were encouraged to contribute and support the fact-finding process to ensure a comprehensive and impactful investigation.
The findings of the committee is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping NPP’s strategy moving forward.
